Networking platform for European and international climate agendas

The CCCA strengthens the transboundary connection of the Austrian research community in climate change research through the international networking platform. The aim of the networking platform is to better link various activities of the Austrian research community with the activities of European and international scientists. In addition, the international visibility of research activities in Austria is to be increased and the Austrian climate research community shall be better informed about and integrated into international initiatives. The resulting synergies will strengthen the positioning of Austrian climate change research in the international arena.

A major challenge in science and research funding is the optimization of content alignment between science funders and scientists, especially at the interface of national and international research activities. The strategic dimension is particularly important here: what research gaps are present and what long-term funding strategies can be used to specifically address them? How can inter- or transnational calls for proposals be aligned with national research communities in order to optimally position Austrian researchers and create good framework conditions for their research?

This is done, for example, through the exchange of content with the European Commission within the framework of Horizon Europe and the strategic research coordination within the Joint Programming Initiative Climate (JPI Climate), which operates at an important interface between national and international research in the European Research Area (ERA). In addition, various services are offered to the Austrian climate research community and in particular to the members of the CCCA (see Services).
