Accessibility Declaration

Statement on Accessibility

The CCCA-Climate Change Centre Austria is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Federal Act on the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies (Web Accessibility Act - WZG) BGBl. I No. 59/2019 as amended, to ensure a barrier-free access.

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.ccca.ac.at

Status of compatibility with the requirements

The Climate Change Centre Austria is currently in the process of redesigning and renewing its web presence to ensure accessibility. Therefore, the content regarding the assessment of (non-)accessible content will continuously change in the near future.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was created on 18.10.2024 and is continuously updated.

The statement was prepared based on an assessment conducted by a staff member of the Odilien Institute Graz.

The evaluation of the website's compatibility with the WZG to implement the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 according to WCAG 2.0 at conformance level AA will be conducted through self-testing by converting content on the website by spring 2025.

Non-accessible content

The following content is not accessible for the following reasons:

a. Incompatibility with accessibility requirements

Summary of main issues:

  • Insufficient contrast at a few locations
  • Partially inappropriate heading structure
  • Suboptimal implementation of some tables
  • Some HTML errors with accessibility relevance

Inadequate error messages in some forms

Continuous improvements to the website are being made in the areas of contrast and tables.

b. Disproportionate burden

Mainly comprehensive scientific papers and writings that were not originally created in an accessible format are not accessible. Upon request, we are happy to provide the entire report as an accessible PDF.
Fact sheets are being progressively made accessible.

c. The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions

Many predominantly older PDF documents and office documents are not accessible. For example, PDF documents such as fact sheets and policy briefs, as well as brochures, are not tagged, making them either not accessible at all or inadequately accessible to screen reader users. Thus, the WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value) is not fulfilled.

Feedback and contact information

The website's content is continuously being improved, updated, and expanded, with accessibility and usability being of great importance to us.

If you encounter barriers that prevent you from using our website, issues not described in this statement, or deficiencies in meeting the accessibility requirements, please report them to us at the following contact: heide.spitzer@ccca.ac.at

Enforcement procedure

If you are not satisfied with the response from the above-mentioned contact, you can file a complaint with the Complaints Office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the contact form of the Complaints Office.

The FFG will examine the complaints to determine if they relate to violations of the requirements of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in meeting the accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an entity associated with it.

If the complaint is justified, the FFG will provide recommendations for action and propose measures to address the identified deficiencies to the federal government or the relevant entities.
