NEKP draft (2021-2030)

49 scientists from climate and transformation research have written this comprehensive statement on the current draft of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan for Austria 2021-2030 (NECP) as part of the comment phase (05.07-30.08.2023). Due to the limited comment period of eight weeks, not all details can be covered comprehensively. Nevertheless, some key areas that require particular attention are highlighted here. In just over 40 pages, in addition to various cross-cutting issues (e.g. digitalization, construction and spatial planning, international fairness), the plans contained in the NECP draft on energy, buildings, transport, agriculture & forestry and land use change, waste and circular economy as well as research, innovation, education and competitiveness are addressed in particular and concrete measures are also proposed.

In 2019, scientists drew up a comprehensive reference plan as the basis for a scientifically sound national energy and climate plan for Austria (Ref-NEKP) that is in line with the Paris climate targets. You can find it here.
