SDG 13 Options Report

As part of the CCCA sponsorship for SDG 13, 11 options were developed to support Austria on its path towards a sustainable future. These UniNEtZ options are primarily aimed at political decision-makers and were written by more than 30 scientists from 11 different research institutions and published in early 2022. The SDG 13 part of the UniNEtZ options report is divided into

  • the description of the SDG 13 goal and the five associated targets (see below) and
  • a chapter on each of the eleven SDG 13 options.

These options, as well as all other options developed in the UniNEtZ, are available both as abstracts and as long versions (which are published on an ongoing basis) on the UniNEtZ website here

These 11 options by no means contain all the necessary climate protection measures to put Austria on the path to a sustainable and climate-friendly future. However, SDG 13 has many co-benefits with other SDGs and their options, so that many climate-relevant topics can also be found in options of other SDGs.

Target 13.1 Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries

Target 13.2 Integrate climate action into national policies, strategies and planning

Target 13.3 Improve education, awareness-raising, human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.

Target 13.a Fulfil the commitment made by developed country Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to collectively raise $100 billion annually from all sources by 2020 to meet the needs of developing countries in the context of meaningful climate action and transparent implementation, and fully operationalize the Green Climate Fund by providing it with the necessary financial resources as soon as possible.
