SDG 13 Options Report
As part of the CCCA sponsorship for SDG 13, 11 options were developed to support Austria on its path towards a sustainable future. These UniNEtZ options are primarily aimed at political decision-makers and were written by more than 30 scientists from 11 different research institutions and published in early 2022. The SDG 13 part of the UniNEtZ options report is divided into
- the description of the SDG 13 goal and the five associated targets (see below) and
- a chapter on each of the eleven SDG 13 options.
SDG 13 options:
- Option 13.1: Eco-social CO2 tax reform Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.2: Evaluate and expand existing heat mitigation plans Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.3: Long-term safeguarding of the water supply for urban greening measures to maintain the cooling function, especially during hot and dry periods Abstract Option long version
- Option 13.4: Highly efficient energy services as a contribution to climate protection Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.5: Enabling climate action (climate liability law) Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.6: Correct and committed implementation of the new EU energy and climate-related legislation Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.7: Monitoring and effectiveness analysis of (Austrian contributions to) international climate finance Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.8: Climate-target-promoting digitalization Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.9: Bioeconomy as a contribution to climate protection Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.10: Climate protection-oriented spatial planning Abstract Long version of option
- Option 13.11: Nature-friendly carbon storage Abstract Long version of option
These options, as well as all other options developed in the UniNEtZ, are available both as abstracts and as long versions (which are published on an ongoing basis) on the UniNEtZ website here.
These 11 options by no means contain all the necessary climate protection measures to put Austria on the path to a sustainable and climate-friendly future. However, SDG 13 has many co-benefits with other SDGs and their options, so that many climate-relevant topics can also be found in options of other SDGs.
Reports on SDG 13 and its target:
- Report on SDG 13 target in general in connection with targets 13.2 and 13.3
