2. Services of the International Networking Platform

The International Networking Platform offers a variety of services to the Austrian climate research community and in particular to CCCA members. Many of the activities have a direct link and synergies with the activities in JPI Climate.

Development of the CCCA "International Newsletter"

One of the main tasks of the International Networking Platform is the dissemination of information about European and international activities in climate change research. This is primarily done through the newsletter, received by more than 1300 people in Austria. There is also the format of the "International Newsletter" since June 2020 which provides targeted information to the newsletter subscribers. The International Networking Platform shares information about international events, calls for proposals or opportunities for participation via the CCCA Newsletter.

Calls to participate in international formats

Another core task of the International Networking Platform is to well position Austrian scientists internationally, to increase their visibility, and to give them access to committees, consortia, and collaboration opportunities. At the same time, this allows experts to actively display their own thematic focus in an international context and to increase their own networks. Therefore, the International Networking Platform regularly calls for participation in international projects and formats.

Expert nominations

In close cooperation with the CCCA Service Centre, the International Networking Platform advises on the nomination of experts for international bodies or committees and as speakers for events.

Consideration of the international perspective in CCCA products

The International Networking Platform ensures the international dimension in CCCA products, and thereby prevent parallel activities at the international and national level. For example, the International Networking Platform is currently contributing to the APCC Special Report Land Use, Land Management and Climate Change (SR21), making sure that international developments in the area of land use are taken into consideration.

Enabling access to international calls for proposals

The International Networking Platform tries to support the Austrian research community in international calls for proposals by arranging contacts to project consortia in collaboration with the Service Centre and by targeting individual researchers, as well as by supporting them in the preparation for calls for proposals.

Transnational connections

The Austrian CCCA is an international role model for the bundling of research networks in climate change research. The International Networking Platform supports linkages between international research networks and the CCCA to increase its international visibility.

Moderation and facilitation of events

The International Networking Platform supports the visibility of the CCCA through the moderation of events with a specific international focus in order to further develop  international networks.
